our chapter to be part of it. Hopefully it is a successful event and we
can gain more members! Thank you Beth and Mercedes for being in
charge of setting up/breaking down. I am sorry I won’t be there! - 99’s Girl Scout Aviation Day- Saturday March 12th, 9am-12pm. This
event will be located in the old Central Airways hangar, the new home to Flight Club 502(next to the old terminal building at bowman field). Volunteers are needed!!! Treasurer, Membership Chair and Fundraising Chair. If you are
interested, please email me! - Next meeting will be March 7th at 6pm. Location TBD. We are putting
together a little celebration for International Women’s Day so that is why the date and location have changed. I will be sending out an email later with the details. Stay tuned! - Ideas for 2022- update!
I have been calling/emailing/texting around to find out more information on all of these great ideas. This is what I have so far;
*Control Tower Tour- not possible right now due to Covid/budget
restrictions.
*Behind the scenes tour of SDF- we narrowed this one down to a tour of the Airport Authority Operations center. I emailed Megan Thoben about this today.
*Clark County Tour- not sure what part of the airport you all want to tour but we are hoping to find someone who knows how we can get a tour of maybe the ASI hangar? Please let me know if you have any leads
*UPS dispatch tour- not possible right now with Covid restrictions.
*Atlas Air tour- since we can’t get into UPS Global Operations Center, I am talking with the Atlas Air chief pilot in CVG to try and get a tour of their National Operation Center( very similar to UPS) I will have more information in the coming weeks on this.
*Republic Hangar tour- we have 2 ladies working on getting us in
*UPS Hangar tour- Bill and others are working on this for us too
*Summer bbq at KY Flight Training Center- I will call Dale of KYTC to ask about this. There were a few summer bbq/fly ins/breakfast ideas that I believe we can role all up into one event this summer with Dale of KYTC.
*Heritage Festival sponsor- yes!! I talked to Pat who runs the festival and he will need lots of help this year putting this event on. We will at least have a booth and maybe more. I am waiting to hear back about our chapter becoming a sponsor for the 5K. However, our awesome member, Mercedes Hartman is going to design a Heritage Festival WAI t-shirt that we can sell at the event as a fundraiser. Can’t wait to see what she creates:)
*High Altitude Chamber- Mercedes is checking to see if our chapter could sponsor a chamber coming to Bowman Field for a short period of time and we could use it as a fundraising event by selling tickets for it. Hopefully we will find out more soon about this exciting opportunity.
-Girls in Aviation Day(GIAD)- If you are interested in helping plan this
awesome event this year, please come to the GIAD planning ommittee
meeting. I am waiting until after the conference to have this meeting since I will be attending all the GIAD workshops and volunteering at the GIAD event at the conference this year. I am hoping to have a lot of fresh ideas to talk about. The meeting is tentatively set for: Saturday, March 26th 11:00am. If you are interested, please let me know, I am flexible on the date and time so we can move it if needed. I appreciate any help on planning this very cool event.
