July Meeting Minutes
Hello Everyone!!
We had a very productive July meeting and I am attaching the minutes below. (Thanks Crystal and Liz).
Our idea for a meeting in August is to focus on scholarship applications and resumes. I have extensive work in this area as well as some of our other members and we would love to help those of you who are applying for WAI scholarships this year. We need to move the meeting date because of our flying schedules to August 22 at 6:00pm. If you can not make it to the meeting I will be more than happy to meet with any of you and go over your scholarship essays, resumes, or applications. Just reach out to me via phone call or text 502-640-7040. It is the best way to get a hold of me.
We are also excited to announce we will be offering two scholarships at the GIAD event in September. A $1500 flight scholarship and a $1000 maintenance and engineering scholarship. The information about those scholarships will be sent later today.
I look forward to our August meeting!!Leah

WAI-Bluegrass Chapter July Meeting
Thank you to the 3 members who joined me:)
– Items covered
– how to boost membership and meeting attendance ( I know in the past we have not held a July meeting because people are out of town so I know July is not the normal attendance numbers)
– Fundraisers
– August meeting
– GIAD Meeting Attendance: The youngest member at the meeting suggested we use more social media to advertise for our meetings. She said preferably Instagram. We do have an account and Candice has offered to keep it current along with our facebook account, I just need to get the info to her!! I will also check with LaVerne about making sure our website is updated. Other ideas were: send out reminder emails with further notice and maybe more than 1 reminder email or send out e invites for the meeting. Plan more ice cream socials, etc.. to bring in new members.
Fundraisers: We thought that if all the members who have the time was to create a fundraiser at their favorite restaurant or just one they go to a lot then we could divide and conquer. I am still waiting to hear back how much we made at City BBQ, unfortunately, they have a minimum you have to raise for them to cut a check(I did not know about this beforehand) so I am not sure if we made enough. However, I am setting up one at Blaze Pizza in St. Matthews and also going to Mission BBQ to see if they do them. I can provide any member with the 501(c)3 status info needed to set up one of these restaurant fundraisers. Please email me at: superdpilot@yahoo.com
August meeting idea: Scholarship Application and Resume workshop. Our President, Leah is an absolute Pro at this and we have a lot of other extremely qualified members who can help out those new to this write a perfect application and resume. The WAI scholarships are published and the applications are due by October 12th. You must be a current WAI member by October 1st to be eligible to apply. You can apply to 3 different scholarships. Go to WAI.org to see the list!
